Federal Light Ballistic Armor

This deliverable is attached to a re-accruing character that plays a crucial role in the main story of ZARYA-3. Furthermore, the final design of this armor will dictate the aesthetic language of future armors from its faction of origins.

The Best Protection For Non-Combat Personnel

This Light Ballistic Armor is a premium solution for anyone who wants to minimize the risks even while being far away from the front lines. Combat pilots, personal protection officers and special forces operators – Light Ballistic Armor is made to perfectly fit their needs!

Its reinforced armored plates are capable of stopping even high caliber projectiles, meanwhile the soft armored padding provides a dampening effect against kinetic shock. Detachable collar and additional soft parts can be used to increase protection of user’s neck and sides from debris or slow moving projectiles while operating in higher risk environments.

Because of high cost that comes with its complexity, the Light Ballistic Armor can be deemed too expensive to be mass-supplied for the ordinary troops, but its elite clientele provides enough demand to continue its production.

The Modern and Edgy Type

Light Ballistic Armor was created as something an elite military contractor would casually wear in between piloting their own starfighter and disembarking on a covert operation in a hostile territory.

To find the right shape language I have been studying both “luxurious” armors from video games/films and real life cutting edge solutions from similar high-end segment of personal protection products.

The final design is a blend between beautiful, but unrealistic shape from Deus Ex and a very real “skeletal” plate carrier from Skeletac. Since I use a custom 3D mannequin for fitting the armor, (and of my personal experience) I did also create a comfortable space for breasts of the female character. Lastly, triangular pattern was added as a reference to aesthetics that are strongly connected with the characters who wears this armor.

One Year to Think and One Evening to Make

Currently this armor is under a rework, but the aesthetic language is completely approved.

Based on the feedback from supporters of this project, I have increased the size of the frontal armor plate. Another problem was a clear lack of attachment surfaces for magazine pockets. All of these issues are being addressed in the subsequent version of this deliverable.

Just like with any other 3D models, I try to make this armor as functional as possible. For example, the final version is going to have a detachable collar that can be added or removed on a whim.

While the need to create this armor appeared far before I was any good with 3D modeling (Left Version), I have really committed to this task only one year later. As result, the second iteration of this armor (Right Version) was completed over one evening (4 hours) of work.
